About Jefferson Parish
Named for Thomas Jefferson, Jefferson Parish was the first suburb of New Orleans. Only 15 minutes away from the Central Business District of New Orleans, you can find everything from wetland activities to numerous shopping and dining opportunities to a professional baseball stadium. You can spend your day shopping at Lakeside Mall, strolling through Lafreniere Park, or sunbathing on a Grand Isle beach. Rivertown offers a host of local museums, and there’s even a casino where you can try your luck, enjoy dinner, or dance the night away. The parish celebrates many of the local New Orleans’ traditions including Mardi Gras. There are excellent schools throughout the parish, and neighborhoods here have many options for everyone.
