About St Charles Parish
Located just 25 miles from New Orleans, St. Charles Parish spans both sides of the Mississippi River. Originally settled by German farmers, it is home to historic plantations, such as Destrehan Plantation which hosts festivals and markets throughout the year. St Charles Parish continues in it’s agricultural roots, with much agriculture still prevalent throughout the parish. With access to the river and Lake Pontchartrain, water activities are plentiful. Close to the cities of Kenner and Metairie, St. Charles has become a suburb where people can find smaller, quieter, budget friendly neighborhoods close to shopping, cultural events, and transportation like Louis Armstrong International airport. With I-10 close by, access to Baton Rouge and New Orleans is only minutes away.
